Mexican Cultural Institute Renovations 14th St. NW Washington, DC Powe . Jones . Architects has designed renovations to the Institute’s historic 100 year old mansion on Sixteenth Street NW, to enhance the quality and security of its galleries, improve the building’s life safety systems, rehabilitate aging historic finishes, and adapt of the original carriage house into a guest house for visiting artists.

Embassy of the Republic of Malawi Chancery Renovations Massachusetts Ave. NW Washington, DC Powe . Jones . Architects has designed the rehabilitation, major renovation, modernization and expansion of the 1870’s 11,000 SF row house on historic Embassy Row for use as the Malawi Embassy’s Chancery. Renovations include structural repairs, exterior envelope and interior finishes rehabilitation, space reconfiguration, new exit stairway and elevator addition, and new building systems and utilities throughout.

Zaman Residential & Commercial Complex Phnom Penh, Cambodia Powe . Jones . Architects is working with our Seoul, Korea partner Dong Il Architects and Engineers on the design of a 2.8 million SF (254,000 SM) complex on a 3.6 acre (1.44 hectare) site in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The site, immediately south of the city center fronts the esplanade along the Bassac River, overlooking Koh Pich Island and the Mekong River beyond. The project consists of three 38 to 40 story residential condominium towers accommodating approximately 1,200 units on a seven-story retail and parking podium. The development team includes Daesan Cambodia and Posco E&C.

Capitol Hill Residences Maryland Avenue NE Washington, DC Powe . Jones . Architects is designing three 5,200 SF town homes on Maryland Avenue NE in the heart of the Capitol Hill Historic District. The exterior expression of the buildings is derived from its historic context. The interior are more modern but employ period detailing and trim, including chair rails, paneling and cove molding. Each four story home includes a living level with 12-feet high ceilings with a large living room, dining room and entertainment kitchen; second floor master bedroom suite and library; and third floor guest suite plus two bedrooms, basement in-law suite and two car garage. The rooftop entertainment terraces overlook adjacent Stanton Park and the US Capitol beyond. For Maryland Avenue Ventures, LLC, a venture between New Legacy Partners and Regan Associates. |

Engine Company 12 and XM Satellite Radio Lounge North Capitol Street Washington, DC
Powe . Jones . Architects, teamed with local developer NextGen Development, was selected in a District of Columbia Government competition to renovate the historic, landmarked 1910 Engine Company 12 firehouse on North Capitol Street. The three-story structure will include a family-oriented wood oven style restaurant within the engine house and a second floor lounge which will regularly host live broadcast interviews for XM Satellite Radio. The third floor will include an outdoor rooftop dining terrace. The exterior will be rehabilitated, as will a number of historic interior elements, and the building will be made ADA compliant. The project is anticipated to serve as a major catalyst for the renaissance of North Capitol Street, one of DC’s “Main Streets”. |

New Academic Building US Naval Academy Annapolis, Maryland Working with nationally prominent landscape architecture and planning firm EDAW on a term contract with NAVFAC to provide master planning services at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis. Powe . Jones . Architects has worked closely with EDAW on several projects: updating the historic campus master plan, developing expansion strategies for the library, siting a new academic building on the historically sensitive main campus, and establishing the approach to the consolidation of all administrative spaces on the campus to free up space for other academic uses. Work on each of these projects includes programming and space-planning, as well as the study of site circulation and parking, access and accessibility, site and building security, historic structures and monuments and the creative re-use of existing and historic buildings. |

Downtown Business Hotel Washington, D.C.
Powe Jones Architects has developed the concept for a new 255-room business hotel in southwest Washington, DC. Working with a local developer, the design incorporates street level retail space, a ground floor, street-front restaurant with sidewalk seating, a 2nd floor (terrace level) exterior pool deck and roof-top restaurant and bar with commanding views of the Mall and the Capitol.

Marine Corps Barracks Washington, D.C.
Powe Jones Architects, working with EDAW, is currently evaluating 3 buildings on the historic Marine Corps Barracks campus. The scope of work includes programming, assessment of the existing buildings, force protection analysis, space planning and establishment of parameters for renovation work including exterior rehab, window replacement, interior redesign and re-planning and MEP and data/telecom systems replacement. The overall project includes officers' dining facilities, guest quarters, renovated office space, interactive training facilities, enlisted personnel dormitories and underground parking in 3 totally renovated buildings. |
