Museum of the Americas
Organization of American States
Washington, DC
 |
Greg Powe is Development Director for the Museum of the Americas Foundation
for a new 200,000 square foot museum celebrating the visual and performing
arts of the cultures of the Americas, at the Organization of American States
Headquarters campus in Washington, DC. The new Museum is planned to
celebrate the cultures of all of the peoples of the Americas through
exhibits from folk to fine art, a performing arts theater and other
performance venues, a restaurant of the Americas and museum shop. It will
integrate the existing functions of the OAS library and archives into the
museum’s major education center. The Museum will incorporate the historic
Pan American Union Building and extend three stories below grade, connected
by a dramatic skylit atrium. The Museum will preserve the historic nature of
the building fronting on the Mall while at the same time creating dramatic
new public museum spaces.
