Michael Jones was Principal-in-Charge for NYPI's
replacement facility in upper Manhattan. The building contains
inpatient and outpatient facilities, laboratories, offices, medical library,
an auditorium and community facilities, including a gymnasium and daycare
center. A triangular atrium provides the connection between the south
(clinical) and north (research) facilities. Bridges connect the
building to the adjacent Milstein Pavilion at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital
and the original NYPI tower. Located on a tight urban site, situated
between the West Side highway and Riverside Drive adjacent to the George
Washington Bridge, the building has become an icon upon entry into the city
from across the Hudson River. The six (6) story green glass facade
offers commanding views of the river and New Jersey shoreline.
