Pasquierella ROTC Building
University of Notre Dame
Notre Dame, Indiana

Built in the 1940’s, the existing wood-frame building was in need of replacement. As a result of the overall campus planning effort it was recognized that the ROTC program was improperly situated on campus and should be relocated to provide new facilities with attendant parade grounds. Situated adjacent to the All-Sports Building, two new buildings were created – ROTC and Band. Both buildings require special accommodations on-campus and share a practice marching field. The ROTC Building, at approximately 60,000 sq.ft., contains a mix of classrooms, offices, training rooms, a lounge and small armory. A skylighted concourse extends from the building lobby to access each of the building’s classrooms. Clad in brick and limestone, with diapered gable-ends and oriel windows, the scale of the building is modulated to provide a graceful transition between the scale of the academic campus to the west and the larger All-Sports Building and Joyce Athletic and Convocation Center.
